Eagles Star Saquon Barkley Breaks Silence on Trade Rumors
The Philadelphia Eagles are trying to get through what has become a nightmare season, with star Jalen Hurts out for the rest of the 2026 NFL season and many questions about what the team will do ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10.
One star player that has gotten some trade buzz recently amid the Eagles’ struggles is veteran running back Saquon Barkley.
Although the Eagles are headed into a downward spiral, especially after getting crushed by the division rival Washington Commanders on Sunday night, Barkley has been told that he won’t be traded before the deadline, via ESPN.
“When that message was relayed to me, it definitely does mean a lot,” Barkley said after Sunday night’s 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders.
“The whole time my mindset was, we have a little issue going on right now and I feel like I’m the type of player and the type of leader that can help us get out of it, and I want to be one of the reasons why we fix it.”
The NFC East is arguably the worst division in the NFL this season, with the Eagles at the bottom of the standings at 2-6.

Only the New York Giants have a winning record in the division, with John Harbaugh’s squad sitting at 4-2, followed by the Dallas Cowboys (3-5) and Commanders (2-4).
Even though Barkley won’t be on the move before next week’s deadline, it’ll be interesting to see what the Eagles do and if they think they can salvage their 2026 campaign.
