Eagles take on Texans; and other NFC East predicitions

The NFC east has one of the better records collectively of all of the other teams in the NFL. This week is going to be big in determining how the rankings will shake out in the NFC east.

The Giants are playing the Colts in a Manning-Luck showdown on Monday night. The experts are predicting that the Colts will come out on top as the Giants performance this season has been lackluster. The Giants are 3-4 and lost their previous Monday night football game against the Detroit Lions. The Colts also lost in their first Monday night game to the Eagles. One team will get to come out with a Monday night win but it going to come down to which quarterback decides to show up.

The Eagles are traveling to Houston this week to face the 4-4 Texans. The last time these two teams played each other was in December 2010 and the Eagles won 34-24. Conditions are very different for both teams this time around. Both have new coaches, Chip Kelly and Bill O’Brien bringing exciting offensive schemes from their days coaching in college football. The Texans have a lot to prove to become relevant in playoff discussions as they are pretty underrated and a win over the Eagles would definitely help. The Eagles are neck and neck with the Cowboys for leading the NFC East so every win matters. Hopefully the Eagles have a short-term memory from their disappointing loss against the Cardinals.

The Redskins (3-5) will face the Minnesota Vikings (3-5) on the road this week. Both teams are under the direction of first years coaches, and the two coaches, Jay Gruden and Mike Zimmer previously coached together in Cincinnati for three  years. Most of the attention however is going to be on the fact that RG3 is supposed to be back and starting this week. However, Griffin will definitely be challenged on offense due to the very transformed and evolved Minnesota defense, previously the second worse last year and now one of the top in the league.

Cardinals vs. the Cowboys this week is definitely one of the biggest NFC match-ups and a game that will have a major impact on the way the seedings turnout for the playoffs. With the Cardinals defeating the Eagles last week, the Cowboys must win to help their standings in the NFC East. Arizona is 6-1 with their only loss being to the dominant Denver Broncos. The Cowboys advantage for this matchup is definitely that they are playing at home. Cowboys lost to Washington last week and must rebound to stay on top of the NFC East.
