Giants Get Troubling Jaxson Dart Injury Update After Loss to Rams
The New York Giants’ Monday night went from bad to worse after second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a left knee injury.
Initial reports suggest Dart is dealing with a sprained MCL that will keep him sidelined for several weeks. However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo report that the injury is worse than anticipated and could keep him out for an extended period, potentially season-ending.
The injury occurred on the Giants’ first drive of the game on Monday against the Los Angeles Rams, when he was hit by outside linebackers Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart, who sandwiched him between them, resulting in his left knee bending awkwardly.
Dart immediately grabbed his knee and was taken off the field for examination in the blue medical tent. He then walked to the locker room under his own power, where he was shortly thereafter declared out for the rest of the game.
It has turned the Giants’ 2026 season sideways after just two games.

New York went from a promising Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys that sparked optimism around the franchise to now facing the reality that they could be without Dart for a significant stretch, potentially the rest of the season.
For now, the Giants will turn to Jimmy Winston as the starter. Winston struggled in relief of Dart against the Rams, completing 11-of-27 for 111 yards with an interception and a 37.7 passer rating.
New York will host the Tennessee Titans in Week 3 action.
