Giants growing tired of constant Odell Beckham Jr. questions

The New York Giants are moving toward the 2019 season in a new direction following the decision to trade star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. earlier this offseason.

Although his departure was months ago, the Giants now face questions about their wide receiver core with a litany of issues arising with Corey Coleman suffering a season-ending torn ACL, Sterling Shepard suffering a fractured thumb, and Golden Tate facing a four-game ban for taking a performance-enhancing substance. With all that in mind, general manager David Gettleman has decided to quickly to put to bed those concerns, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

“Odell Beckham plays for the Cleveland Browns now. We’re moving on,” Gettleman said when asked about Beckham’s most recent comments from a GQ story about keeping the team’s brand alive. “Wish him the best.”

After a follow-up question, Gettleman quickly interrupted: “No more Odell questions.”

He said later: “We all know that this is an iconic franchise that has won four Super Bowls and other world championships. That is the brand. That is the brand.”

Regardless of what Gettleman may have to say, the Giants will have to face questions about Beckham Jr., especially with their current wide receiver situation. They have traded away one of the most talented players in the league at a position where they face so many issues just a few days into training camp.

What may continue to keep that a topic of discussion around the team will be Beckham Jr.’s performance with the Cleveland Browns next season. He has a chance to be a key piece of the puzzle in Cleveland while helping lift them to the playoffs.

Ultimately, only time will tell if this was the right move for the Giants to make.
