Giants superstar Odell Beckham Jr. expected to sign ‘recording-breaking deal’ before Week 1
In the last couple of weeks, the New York Giants have picked up the dialogue with star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. toward a new deal.
According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, there is growing optimism on both sides that a new deal could be completed prior to the start of the 2018 regular season opener on Sept. 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The New York Giants and Beckham have made progress on what is expected to be a record-breaking contract for a wide receiver, sources told ESPN, and there is reasonable optimism from both sides that a deal could get done by the start of the season.
There appears to be plenty of momentum toward this being hammered out at some point in the coming weeks to avoid it being a lingering distraction for the team. The handling of the entire situation by Beckham Jr. has been properly handled in the eyes of the Giants as he continued to participate in everything involving the team while showing tremendous progress in his recovery from a surgically-repaired left ankle.
All of this should lend to the two sides coming to an agreement on a deal that should make Beckham Jr. the highest-paid player in the league at his position. This also shows that there is plenty of confidence from the organization that the 25-year-old can return to playing at an elite level this upcoming season as he has produced at a record-breaking pace in his four years in the league.
Ultimately, this should all get resolved in the next few weeks with Beckham Jr. under contract for the long haul.
