Giants will start Jameis Winston in Week 11 vs. Packers

As the New York Giants move toward Week 11 action against the Green Bay Packers, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart remains in the concussion protocol.

It has pushed interim head coach Mike Kafka to declare that Jameis Winston will start in his place.

“He’ll do a great job. I have a lot of confidence in Jameis,” Kafka said via ESPN.

New York is reportedly taking the precautionary route with Dart as he works his way back. He was back on the practice field on Wednesday, which is a promising step toward his return.

Meanwhile, Winston is jumping ahead of Russell Wilson in the depth chart to get the start against the Packers. It will mark his first game action since Week 15 of last season for the Cleveland Browns.

Winston inked a two-year, $8 million deal over the offseason, where he has stayed the third-string quarterback throughout the 2025 campaign. Despite that, the 31-year-old is ready for the opportunity.

“I’ve been waiting on this moment, man,” Winston said. “So, the shock was off, the rust is off. It’s like, hey, you get to play. And when you get to play, nothing else matters but taking it one play at a time and doing your very best. Because we all have different circumstances, conditions, and facts, and I know that.

“But, man, I’m extremely grateful. I choose to focus on what’s true and that’s my mentality, that’s my opportunity, being able to lead this team, and that’s my action. So going out there, being energetic, enthusiastic, serving every single way that I can, and playing the best football I possibly can play.”

The Giants head into Week 11 with a 2-8 record, sitting at the bottom of the NFC East standings.
