Jalen Ramsey was ‘overjoyed’ to get traded to the Rams

Amid the toughest stretch under head coach Sean McVay, the Los Angeles Rams decided to make the blockbuster trade to acquire All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In his first appearance since the move, Ramsey voiced a great deal of joy and excitement about what lies ahead of him with the franchise, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.

“I was overjoyed,” Ramsey said. “I was super, super excited. A fresh start and a fresh start in a place like L.A. with the coach that I have heard about here. I’m a young guy still. Everybody around here’s kind of young. I feel like it’ll be like a little bit more understanding. I was just honestly super excited.”

It’s a fresh new opportunity for Ramsey to re-establish himself with another team. He will play for a team that is looking to compete for much more than the playoffs.

The addition provides the Rams defense with a bonafide cornerstone piece in the secondary, who is regarded as being one of the top cornerbacks in the league. There isn’t any clarity yet about whether he will be able to play in Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

He has stated that he would love to take the field if that is deemed appropriate at this moment. The only other aspect that to still be worked out is a new extension for Ramsey. He is currently in the fourth year of his rookie deal that already has the fifth-year option picked up.

Ultimately, it’s something that the Rams will work to get sorted out shortly.
