Jets name Aaron Rodgers the team’s most inspirational player this season
The New York Jets are set to close out a tough 2023 campaign, falling well short of reaching playoff contention.
Much of this came as a result of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending torn Achilles tendon sustained on the fourth offensive play of the first game of the season. Despite Rodgers’ on-the-field absence, he served as a key factor of motivation for the team.
Head coach Robert Saleh revealed that he was voted the most inspirational player for the season.
“I’ve said it a million times: He loves his teammates, and his teammates love him,” Saleh said via ESPN. “He’s so intentional with how he approaches everybody in the building. He’s very thoughtful in the way he does things, and he’s a tremendous human, he’s really well deserving of this award.”
Rodgers remained a prominent figure around the team while he made a remarkable recovery from his torn Achilles. The four-time league MVP was able to return to the practice field just 2 1/2 months after the injury occurred, which is several months well ahead of the typical recovery timetable.

Rodgers was open to playing at less than 100 percent if the Jets were in playoff contention, but the team never reached that point down the stretch of the regular season. New York was eliminated on Dec. 17 after a 30-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
The 40-year-old should be ready to go well ahead of the 2024 campaign. The Jets are hopeful that he can be the catalyst that pushes them to via for the Super Bowl.
