Jets QB Aaron Rodgers suffers potential Achilles Injury
The New York Jets began their 2023 NFL season with a win over the division rival Buffalo Bills. However, it came at a great cost, which could derail the season for the AFC East heavyweights.
In his first series as the Jets starting quarterback, superstar Aaron Rodgers went down with a leg injury. It was initially thought to be an ankle sprain or some type of injury involving the ankle. Unfortunately for New York, the team appears to be much more serious than anticipated, with everyone in the Jets organization bracing for bad news, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.
On his fourth snap, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered what is feared to be an Achilles tendon injury. It’s a crushing blow to the future Hall of Famer and New York’s Super Bowl aspirations.
The entire season for the Jets hinged on Rodgers being able to lead this team to the promised land. Now it appears he could be out for the year before his stint with the team really started.
Rodgers will have an MRI on Tuesday, according to coach Robert Saleh, who painted a grim picture Monday night after the Jets’ 22-16 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium.
“The MRI is probably going to confirm what we think is going to happen, so prayers tonight,” a somber Saleh told reporters. “But it’s not good.”
Obviously, the team can still hope for the best. Although with all the replay footage going around, it’s clear something snapped in Rodgers’ calf. Such an injury is almost always an Achilles tear.

The team is holding out hope for good news, but it is looking more and more likely that the Jets will have to play another season with Zach Wilson under center.
