Jets QB Justin Fields suffers dislocated toe injury

The New York Jets haven’t had much luck in the injury department when it comes to quarterbacks over the last few years, a trend that has carried over to the present day with Justin Fields.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, Fields suffered a dislocated toe injury on Thursday.

Fields is expected to be ready for Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source told ESPN. The Jets said Fields would not miss significant time and is considered day-to-day.

Initially, Fields’ injury sparked a frenzy on social media, as it seemed like a much more severe injury, considering the initial report. However, it doesn’t appear that Fields will miss any time in terms of when the 2025 NFL season gets started.

In the meantime, veteran Tyrod Taylor will be shouldering the load with Fields sidelined with the toe injury.

Journeyman Tyrod Taylor, who has 58 career starts, will run the offense while Fields is out.

With the Jets fresh off the Aaron Rodgers experiment, which was marred by an Achilles tear, the storied franchise is cautious moving forward. New head coach Aaron Glenn talked about seeing his new quarterback go down.

“When anybody goes down, there’s a lump in my throat,” Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said. “I hate injuries for any player. But the thing is, I want to make sure exactly what the injury is before I move forward on my thought process.”

New York will hope that Fields’ injury is merely a minor setback moving forward and the team can get him back healthy for Week 1.
