Jets Release Tebow
The New York Jets will move forward with one less quarterback in their arsenal.
On Monday, the team released Tim Tebow, which will inevitably create a nationwide buzz on where the third-year quarterback will end up.
“Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding…in all your ways acknowledged Him, and HE will make your paths straight,†Tebow tweeted this morning.
Jets head coach Rex ryan and general manager John Idzik informed Tebow of the news early Monday morning in a face-to-face meeting, putting an end to the long-awaited saga of his future with the New York organization.
“we have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow,†Ryan said. “Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped. Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward.â€
The Jets picked up their sixth quarterback this past weekend after drafting West Virginia’s Geno Smith in the second round. In turn, New York tried to trade for Tebow for as little as a seventh round pick, but unfortunately there were no takers.
The decision might be the wise move for the organization as it will be left with one less distraction coming into mini-camp.
Tebow never lived up to the hype in his time with the Jets. The third-year play-caller took part in only 77 on-field snaps in the 2012-13 season and garnered the poor passing rating and bad decision making that would wind up being the reason for his release.
Tebow might not have much luck in the NFL unless he opts to switch positions. But sources confirmed that he wanted to stick with the quarterback position and may move to the CFL, if all else fails.
