Joe Burrow Sends a Powerful Message About the Bengals’ Ceiling in 2026
The 2026 season is much more than a redemption year for Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, as the star quarterback sees something special brewing.
Burrow said he feels a strong familiarity with this year’s team, giving him the same vibes as his 2019 LSU national championship-winning squad.
“You go back and watch what I said before the 2019 season at LSU,” Burrow said Wednesday via ESPN. “I feel very similarly about this team. I’m so excited to get started and get moving. I wish we ramped this right into training camp so we can continue to improve.
“I feel like there’s so much greatness we’ll be able to achieve this year that I’m just excited to get going.”
Throughout much of the offseason, Burrow has been voicing considerable optimism about the Bengals’ prospects for the 2026 campaign, especially after the front office made several key roster moves.
The Bengals focused on retooling the defense, headlined by acquiring former Pro Bowler Dexter Lawrence in a trade from the New York Giants. Cincinnati also stayed busy in free agency by inking former Seattle Seahawks pass rusher Boye Mafe to a three-year, $60 million deal and signing former Kansas City Chiefs safety Bryan Cook to a three-year contract worth more than $40 million.

The Bengals will need drastic improvement from their defense if they hope to make headway toward returning to the playoff picture. It will take much more than just Burrow’s excellence to elevate the Bengals into Super Bowl contention.
