John Harbaugh Reacts to Cam Skattebo’s Viral Backflip Attempt

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo made headlines over the weekend after he chose to do a backflip during an appearance at Fanatics Fest on Saturday.

The move drew concerns from Giants fans on social media, as Skattebo is coming off surgery to repair a right ankle dislocation. The second-year running back voiced that he is fine after the near fall, but that didn’t stop it from reaching head coach John Harbaugh.

During an appearance on the “Bleav in Giants” podcast published on Tuesday, Harbaugh took a light-hearted approach to the matter.

“Dude, at least stick it. You know what I mean?” Harbaugh joked. “Land the thing if you’re gonna do it.”

As much as Harbaugh is joking around with the situation, it isn’t entirely a laughing matter, as it could have resulted in Skattebo suffering an injury. He is a significant piece to the Giants’ future and offensive identity, especially in Harbaugh’s expected run-heavy offense.

The Arizona State product showed flashes of promise in his rookie campaign, posting 617 total scrimmage yards and seven touchdowns before suffering his foot injury in Week 8. All that said, Harbaugh is confident that Skattebo will be ready to go come training camp later this month.

“[Skattebo] is gonna be ready to go,” Harbaugh said via ESPN. “He’s been working super hard, he’s really been training like crazy. And his mind is on camp. You know he’s healthy, he’s ready to roll and I can’t wait to see him out there at practice.”
