Kyler Murray Already Building Something in Arizona
Kyler Murray is bringing some much-needed clarity and security to the Arizona Cardinals training camp, which kicked off on Thursday.
In case it was unclear, Kyler Murray is the Arizona Cardinals’ starting quarterback. Kyler Murray took all the first team reps during their offseason workouts. Now, he’s taking all those reps at training camp as well.Â
It’s something his new teammates are grateful for. Last season, snaps were split between Josh Rosen and journeyman Sam Bradford. The Cardinals wide receivers are looking forward to developing an understanding with a potential franchise quarterback.
As for Murray, the 21-year-old is well aware of the responsibility on his shoulders.Â

“I think it takes away from the distraction, people asking questions and all that stuff,” Murray said.
“It’s my job to earn that right every day.”
Kyler Murray has fellow Cards newbie Brett Hundley backing him up, and that’s the point. Murray is the permanent starter and Hundley is the permanent backup. This clarity will help both Murray and the team, as the Arizona receivers attest to.Â
“Last year, you have to worry about ’50-50ing’ it up, make sure you’re getting reps with Josh, make sure you’re getting reps with Sam,” wide receiver Christian Kirk said.Â

“Even the coaches would say, ‘We know Sam is starting but make sure you get reps with Josh as well because you never know when he might be thrown in.’ So you have to divvy it up.
“Now, you can really hone in on (Kyler’s) comfort zones and what he likes, what he doesn’t like. It’s that constant communication with everyone in the room. Last year, you might have, ‘Sam likes this, but Josh likes this.’ A little bit of butting up of ideas. It’s been better knowing he’s the guy.”
