Lane Johnson reacts to Jason Peters returning to the Eagles

Throughout much of the offseason, Jason Peters voiced his desire to continue playing in the NFL.

The problem laid with him being without a contract on the open market as his deal with the Philadelphia Eagles expired. That situation has changed with Peters inking a one-year contract to return to Philadelphia, which longtime teammate Lane Johnson has voiced that he’s excited to see him back in the fold for another year, according to Pennlive.com.

“You can’t really replace a Brandon Brooks, who’s the best guard in the league, but this has been in the works I guess for a few weeks,” Johnson said. “Finally working out the details and got the big man back and I’m excited, man. I’m excited to have him next to me, a guy that I’ve looked up to and has really been my mentor ever since coming into the league, so it’s huge for us.”

Although Peters will be moving inside to the guard position, his presence brings much-needed stability to the offensive line. His willingness to play another spot allow Andrew Dillard to develop further into a stability option at left tackle.

Peters has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons, but he has the proven track record as one of the league’s top offensive linemen. He has earned nine Pro Bowl selections, two First-Team All-Pro nods, and four Second-Team All-Pro nominations. If he can continue to be a viable option that should provide the Eagles with the stability they need on the offensive line’s left side.
