Le’Veon Bell’s health a concern as Jets look to end season a strong note

The New York Jets have continued to trek through a difficult season. This year has seen them fall almost entirely out of the playoff picture.

With just a month left it in the season, the Jets are looking to finish on a strong note. However, that will have to be without the services of star running back Le’Veon Bell due to an illness, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

The New York Jets’ disappointing season took another bad turn Saturday. The team ruled out running back Le’Veon Bell for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.

Bell became ill this week, the team said. As a result, he didn’t practice Thursday and Friday, when he was listed as questionable. Coach Adam Gase didn’t give any specifics as to the nature of the illness.

The Pro Bowler had been battling an illness all week. However, he was unable to move past it as it limited his participation in practice. Bell’s absence is a significant blow for the Jets offense that has greatly depended on him being one of their primary factors.

It hasn’t been an ideal first campaign in New York beyond the team’s struggles as he has produced well under his norm with just 589 rushing yards along with three touchdowns while averaging a career-worst 3.2 yards per carry.

New York could look to depend on the duo of Bilal Powell and Ty Montgomery to carry the load in the backfield against the Dolphins on Sunday.
