Lions QB Jared Goff doesn’t care if he gets enough respect or not

Last season, the Detroit Lions headed into the 2022 campaign with no one giving them any chance to do much of anything, as the consensus was it would be more of the same from the struggling NFL franchise.

However, after appearing on HBO’s Hard Knocks, and fans falling in love with head coach Dan Campbell, the Lions were able to far exceed expectations and were able to finish with a winning record of 9-8.

Unfortunately, Detroit fell just short of making the NFL playoffs, as it came down to the wire, and the team just missed out.

As a result of a solid season in Detroit, former No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff earned a trip to the Pro Bowl for the third time in his career and the first time with the Lions. Goff started to get some respect around the league again, but some argue he still doesn’t get enough for what he’s done, but he could care less, as he told the Detroit Free Press.

“I don’t care,” he said. “Don’t care. Don’t even know if I do or not. Try to win games for this team. That’s all.”

Heading into the 2023 NFL season, Goff and the Lions will have a chance to take another step forward while competing in a weak NFC and an NFC North division that seems to be up for grabs, as it could be a two-team race for the division title with the Minnesota Vikings.

Only time will tell if the Lions can live up to these new expectations, but there’s a good chance that will happen, especially if Goff continues to play at a high level in Detroit.
