Mike McDaniels reacts to constant Dolphins trade rumors

The Miami Dolphins have stumbled through the first several weeks of the season, leading to persistent speculation that several notable players could be on the move before the trade deadline.

All that has led head coach Mike McDaniel to voice that the chatter centers on “baseless” discussion around the organization.

“All [trade] rumors about Miami Dolphins players are baseless, currently,” McDaniel said via ESPN. “Personally, this time of year bothers me for the sake of individual players having where he’s playing questioned by rumors.”

With the Miami Dolphins dropping five out of their first six games, much of the lingering conversation has revolved around Bradley Chubb, De’Von Achane, Jaelan Phillips, and Jaylen Waddle.

As the Nov. 4 trade deadline inches closer, the Dolphins are viewed as potential sellers to gather assets to build the roster beyond 2025.

McDaniel’s strong remarks should temper the discussion temporarily, but if Miami falls further out of the playoff picture, it only gives more credence to the belief that the franchise will offload talent.

It has been nothing short of a disaster for the Dolphins as it could see them be well clear of postseason contention before the second half of the season.

For the time being, all players like Waddle can do is focus on what they can control.

“I’m just focused on the game, honestly. Focused on the Browns and just trying to get a win,” Waddle said. “I really don’t see too much. If my agent or anything don’t contact me, then I really don’t see too much.”
