Nets superstar Kevin Durant dealing with nagging shoulder injury

After a slow start to the season, the Brooklyn Nets are pushing their way toward the top record in the Eastern Conference.

Much of which has come behind Kevin Durant’s stellar play, performing at an MVP level. However, the star forward is dealing with a nagging shoulder injury that he voiced after the 120-96 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder win that is receiving treatment.

“It’s solid,” Durant told reporters after the win when asked about the shoulder via ESPN. “A little sore here and there, but I played, didn’t get in the way too much. Keep getting treatment and take it a day at a time.”

Durant has been able to play through the bothersome injury without any significant impact on his effectiveness on the floor. He has shot north of 50% in five straight contests. Meanwhile, he scored at least 20 points in all of the Nets’ first 14 games.

Durant is only one game away from tying Hall of Famer Karl Malone for the all-time mark for players that are age 33 or older. He’s remained the Nets’ driving offensive factor, pushing the franchise to win its last three straight games, including out of its last 10 games.

Brooklyn will continue to monitor the injury as Durant receives daily treatment. The Nets are hoping that James Harden can pick up the slack after a slow scoring start to the season. Harden is averaging 19.5 points and is second in the league with 9.3 assists per contest.

If Brooklyn hopes to vie for an NBA title, it will need Durant to head the charge.
