NFL Power Rankings, Week 5: Bills rolling atop AFC

At 3-1, the Buffalo Bills have two shutouts on their resume and a slew of winnable games on their schedule moving forward. Below we look at this week’s NFL Power Rankings.

16. Houston Texans

When you lose by 40 points and have five turnovers, you’re not going to win many favors in the power rankings.

15. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars have a coach who doesn’t bother to fly with the team and a roster that will be lucky to win two games.

14. New York Jets

The Jets finally got their first win of the year. For rookie quarterback Zach Wilson, it had to be a huge relief.

13. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins beat the Patriots in Foxboro to start the season and haven’t found the win column since. Rough go of it so far.

12. Indianapolis Colts

Carson Wentz and the Colts got their first win of 2021 and now face the Ravens in Baltimore on Monday night. Huge opportunity.

11. Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh has absolutely no ability to score a point. The defense is still solid, but it’s not going to bail out a unit that can’t score at all.

10. New England Patriots

Mac Jones has been the best of the rookie quarterbacks so far, but the offense remains limited and the defense, while good, isn’t dominant.

9. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are 3-1 and tied for first place in the AFC North. Some regression is coming, but Cincinnati fans should be thrilled with the weaponry.

8. Denver Broncos

After beating the Jets, Jaguars and Giants, the Broncos took on the Ravens at Mile High and got trounced. Not sure what it says, but not great.

7. Tennessee Titans

Tennessee lost to the Jets. Enough said.

6. Cleveland Browns

The Browns need more from Baker Mayfield, but the defense is gelling and the offense has arguably the best line and run game in the sport.

5. Kansas City Chiefs

No defense, but the offense is otherworldly. Patrick Mahomes threw five touchdowns on Sunday in a 42-30 win and nobody blinked.

4. Baltimore Ravens

After losing in overtime against the Raiders to start the season, Baltimore has three straight victories and now comes home for a primetime showdown with Indianapolis.

3. Las Vegas Raiders

It’s never fun losing in division, but the Raiders are 3-1 and going home to play the Bears.

2. Los Angeles Chargers

Hard not to love the Chargers after they beat the Chiefs and Raiders in consecutive weeks.

1. Buffalo Bills

Buffalo has the league’s best defense by most metrics to this juncture, and now gets a chance to showcase in Kansas City on Sunday night.
