NFL power rankings, Week 8: Here come the Jets

In the newest edition of our NFL power rankings for the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs made a strong statement. Meanwhile the New York Jets keep rolling.

16. Houston Texans (LW: 16)

The Texans are going to be in the mix for the first-overall pick. Just not enough talent to compete on a weekly basis.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers (LW: 15)

Pittsburgh needs more from Kenny Pickett. Granted, he’s a rookie quarterback, but having seven interceptions in eight quarters is brutal.

14. Denver Broncos (LW: 14)

Nothing else needs to be said. Total tire fire.

13. Cleveland Browns (LW: 13)

The Browns were trying to stay in the playoff hunt until Deshaun Watson returned, but that’s clearly not going to happen.

12. Jacksonville Jaguars (LW: 11)

Jacksonville looked interesting at 2-1, but since it has lost four straight including a heartbreaker last Sunday to the New York Giants.

11. New England Patriots (LW: 10)

Bailey Zappe or Mac Jones? Does it matter? New England is 3-4 but chaos is the word of the day in Foxboro.

10. Indianapolis Colts (LW: 9)

Indianapolis is going to Sam Ehlinger after watching Matt Ryan throw two hideous interceptions against the Titans. Does it turn the season around?

9. Las Vegas Raiders (LW: 12)

The Raiders have won tow of their last three and have a very easy schedule ahead. Don’t sleep on Las Vegas moving up the NFL power rankings.

8. Los Angeles Chargers (LW: 5)

At some point, we need to talk about Brandon Staley and whether he’s the answer in Los Angeles. Too much bad football from the Chargers.

7. New York Jets (LW: 8)

The Jets are one of the best stories this season. New York is 5-2 and has the Patriots coming into the Meadowlands this weekend.

6. Tennessee Titans (LW: 7)

Tennessee has won four straight and looks like a mortal lock to win the AFC South.

5. Miami Dolphins (LW: 6)

The Dolphins haven’t lost with Tua Tagovailoa. Miami has some serious injury issues in the secondary, but Miami is a legit playoff team.

4. Baltimore Ravens (LW: 4)

Baltimore has to get better in the second halves of these games, but the Ravens have been able to put up points and survive shaky defensive efforts.

3. Cincinnati Bengals (LW: 3)

The Bengals are the biggest threat to the AFC’s top two teams. Joe Burrow is rolling, and his weapons are fantastic.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (LW: 2)

The Chiefs smoked the 49ers on the road, scoring touchdowns on six of seven drives at one point.

1. Buffalo Bills (LW: 1)

Looking at the schedule, t’s very realistic to think Buffalo goes 14-3 or 15-2. The Bills do that, and the AFC playoffs go through Buffalo.
