NFL: Super Bowl Odds

RGIII_WebWith NFL training camp fast approaching, it is not too early to place your Super Bowl winning bets. Wagerweb has futures on all 30 NFL teams to win this year’s Super Bowl in New York. Some of our favorite picks are:

San Francisco 49ers +600– The Niners came about as close last season as possible without taking home the trophy. They have added Anquan Boldin at wide receiver and will have Colin Kaepernick starting at quarterback from day one this time around. They have however lost wide receiver Michael Crabtree for the season with a torn ACL.

Seattle Seahawks +700– In what will be a very good division battle in the NFC West, the Seahawks will be right there with the Niners. Russell Wilson begins his second year at starting quarterback after a great rookie year. Nowhere in the NFL is it tougher to win on the road than Seattle. The Seahawks went 8-0 there a year ago. Percy Harvin joins them this season. He is one of the NFL’s most explosive players.

Atlanta Falcons +1400– Matt Ryan finally won a playoff game last season. That should give him confidence going into the playoffs this season. That is if the Falcons can get there. The NFC South is a weird division in which the previous year’s winner always seems to struggle and the previous year’s worst team seems to rise up. But we like the Falcons to get back to the playoffs and do some damage.

Indianapolis Colts +3500– Was nobody paying attention last year? Andrew Luck is a stud quarterback who will only be better this year. How do you not put some money down at +3500?

Teams to stay away from:

New England Patriots +650– You gotta be kidding me. With all the distractions they have over there? +650? Who’s  Tom Brady going to throw the ball to? Tim Tebow? Do we even know if he can catch a football?

Denver Broncos +500– Let’s face it, Peyton Manning is another year older. And we think it might be time to call it, that he is not the best under postseason pressure. Wes Welker does make a nice addition though.

Washington Redskins +2500– We don’t really know after a guy blows out a knee do we? If Robert Griffin III can’t run like he could before, that takes away a lot of his game.

Baltimore Ravens +2000– There is just way too much missing from last season’s roster to be thinking of a repeat. Gone are Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Anquan Boldin…way too much talent to make up.

Darkhorses to watch for:

Carolina Panthers +4000– If Cam Newton is ever going to be a great quarterback, now is the time he had better show it. Another rough start this year could raise a lot of red flags.

Chicago Bears +2800– Don’t forget this team won 10 games a year ago. They don’t need to improve a whole lot to be in the mix.
