NFL Week 13: 5 favorites to bet on

NFL Week 13 sees many road favorites. We take a look at 5 favorites to bet on in the upcoming slate.

5. Indianapolis Colts (-4) at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are absolutely cooked. They are also benching Blake Bortles, which normally would be a really positive thing, except the front office showed only enough foresight to have… Cody Kessler as the backup. The Colts have won five straight and are absolutely rolling into December with an offense that has averaged almost 40 points per game in that stretch. Andrew Luck is playing at an MVP level, while the Jaguars can’t wait for the final gun to sound in Week 17.

4. Denver Broncos (-5) at Cincinnati Bengals

Another home team that’s both the underdog and playing a bad backup quarterback. The Bengals lost Andy Dalton for the season due to a torn ligament in his thumb, leaving the job to Jeff Driskel. Cincinnati is also in complete and utter freefall at 5-6 after starting the season at 4-1. Meanwhile, the Broncos are also 5-6 but going in the opposite direction after handling both the Chargers and Steelers over the last two weeks. Things are looking up for Denver as it embarks on a very winnable game.

3. Kansas City Chiefs (-15) at Oakland Raiders

This is the biggest line of the week and one of the biggest spreads ever in favor of the road team. Still, we’re going to swallow the 15 points for a few reasons. One, the Chiefs are coming off a bye week and are mostly healthy, save potentially for Sammy Watkins. Two, Kansas City hangs 35+ points on good defenses, what is it going to do to Oakland? Three, the Raiders can’t score. Even if Oakland plays well by its standards and the Chiefs give us an average game, 15 points isn’t enough to dissuade.

2. New Orleans Saints (-7.5) at Dallas Cowboys

This is the final of our four road favorites, but you always play the hot hand. Yes, the Cowboys have looked more like a competent team since acquiring Amari Cooper, but the Saints haven’t lost since Week 1 when they were upset by the Buccaneers at the Superdome. Since then, New Orleans has been on a tour de force, winning 10 consecutive games with a great offense and a rapidly improving defense. This won’t be easy because Dallas is both a solid team and at home, but count on Drew Brees and Co. to win by more than the 7.5 points.

1. Los Angeles Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5)

This was the easiest line of the week to bet. Look, the Chargers are a good team and perhaps even the better team when all things are equal on a neutral site, but that’s not the case here. Pittsburgh is coming off two miserable performances on the road, including a 24-17 loss to Denver on Sunday. The Steelers are going home, in primetime, to avenge that mess. Ben Roethlisberger and the rest of that offense are always much better at Heinz Field. This is a brutally tough spot for the Chargers.
