5 biggest winners from NFL Week 2 action

NFL Week 2 was the story of winners and losers. We take a look at 5 of the biggest winners from the NFL Week 2 matchups.

5. Buffalo Bills

The Bills have to be feeling very good. The team rebuilt last season with rookie quarterback Josh Allen at the helm. Buffalo is now 2-0 with a pair of road wins at MetLife Stadium against the Jets and Giants. As long as Buffalo doesn’t completely fall apart, it appears second place in the AFC East is assured. Factor in the crippling injury of Ben Roethlisberger to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Buffalo suddenly looks like a real contender for the playoffs.

4. San Francisco 49ers

Very similar story for the 49ers. San Francisco was able to win a pair of road games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals, the latter coming on a decisive 41-17 score. Jimmy Garoppolo is looking better by the quarter. As well as that, the defense is coming together and the coaching staff finally has a healthy roster. With the New Orleans Saints losing Drew Brees for six weeks or so with an injured thumb, perhaps anther postseason spot opened up in the NFC. Regardless, the Niners are trending up with a pair of home games coming up against the injury-riddled Pittsburgh Steelers and then the Cleveland Browns.

3. Green Bay Packers

The Packers have to feel great. Very healthy, and leading the NFC North after a quality 21-16 win over the rival Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field. Green Bay took an early 21-point lead and rode it home, with Aaron Rodgers making some beautiful throws in the process. After a few years of profound disappointment, the Packers look to be a threat in the NFC once again.

2. Patrick Mahomes

How could Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs not be on the list? Mahomes continues his assault on the NFL. He threw for 443 yards and four touchdowns against the Oakland Raiders in a 28-10 win. Kansas City scored all those points in the second quarter, where Mahomes was a tick under 300 yards in the 15-minutes stretch. If Mahomes continues to play anywhere near this level, the rest of the league will pale in comparison to his exploits for quite some time.

1. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have to be beaming. Lamar Jackson looks like the league’s most improved player, and the Steelers are no longer a threat in the AFC North. After hammering the Miami Dolphins and beating the Arizona Cardinals, the Chiefs now loom at Arrowhead Stadium. If the Ravens go into Kansas City and win that game, they’ll be seen as a real contender. Maybe they should be already.
