NFL Week 7 schedule: 5 teams on upset alert

Looking at the NFL Week 7 schedule, these five teams need to be aware of the dreaded upset alert this weekend.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars (-3) vs. New York Giants

The Jaguars are favored at home, but they’re three games worse than the Giants who are fresh off wins against the Baltimore Ravens and Green Bay Packers. Perhaps Vegas is looking to catch people selling low and buying high on these two teams, but there’s also a distinct possibility the Giants come into Jacksonville and roll the Jags to run their record to 6-1.

4. Tennessee Titans (-2.5) vs. Indianapolis Colts

Why not take the upset here? Both teams have three wins and while the Titans have beaten the Colts already this season (and earned a sweep of them last year) the games are generally really close. Plus, Indianapolis is getting All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor into the lineup after missing time. Tennessee is at home and off a bye, but this is a good rivalry and should be a tight game all the way through.

3. Denver Broncos (-1) at New York Jets

Why are the Broncos not the underdog here? Denver is 2-4 and by most metrics has the worst offense in the NFL. Additionally, quarterback Russell Wilson is playing through a hamstring injury, and the unit is already without left tackle Garret Bolles, receiver Tim Patrick and running back Javontae Williams to long-term injuries. The Jets, meanwhile, are 4-2 and trying to keep touch with the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East. With New York’s defense alone, it’s capable of winning in Mile High.

2. Los Angeles Chargers (-5) vs. Seattle Seahawks

No team should be getting I’ve points against the Chargers. Did Vegas miss the Monday night game, where Los Angeles needed a muffed punt in the final minutes of overtime to beat the Broncos, who committed 151 yards worth of penalties? Also, Seattle is basically going to turn this into a home game — as everyone does at SoFi Stadium — while the Chargers are coming into this one on a short week.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (-1) at San Francisco 49ers

This is going to be a fantastic game. Yes, the Chiefs are vastly superior at quarterback, but the Niners have the better weapons, the better defense and now a new, shiny toy in Christian McCaffrey who might have a few plays in this one. Kansas City is favored for good reason — Patrick Mahomes against Jimmy Garoppolo carries major weight — but if the Chiefs don’t play up to standard in any facet, they could lose.
