NFL Week 9 games: 5 favorites to consider this weekend
The NFL Week 9 slate is packed with fantastic games. Here are five you should be looking at with the favorite as a quality bet to play.
5. New England Patriots (-7) at New York Jets
Plain and simple, this is about two people: Bill Belichick and Adam Gase. The Patriots are all kinds of banged up and clearly headed for a sub-.500 season. However, Belichick is the greatest coach of all time in any respects, and Gase should be allowed to coach a Pop Warner club. If for no other reason, bet the Pats.
4. Miami Dolphins at Arizona Cardinals (-4.5)
Love, love, love this bet. The Cardinals are the better team at 5-2 (Miami is 4-3) and is at home, off a bye week, with the Dolphins having to fly across the country. Furthermore, Tua Tagovailoa looked awful in his first start, throwing for just 94 yards. If Tagovailoa doesn’t play markedly better here, there’s a chance this gets really ugly, really fast against the well-rested Cardinals.

3. Chicago Bears at Tennessee Titans (-6.5)
While both teams are dealing with two-game sign streaks, this isn’t the same situation. Foe starters, Chicago had to shut down its facility on Thursday as the team is dealing with a potential COVID-19 outbreak. Additionally, the Bears are still rolling with Nick Foles as the starting quarterback, while Tennessee has a quality starter in Ryan Tannehill. Chicago has a strong defense but it can’t score, and given enough opportunities at home, the Titans will pull away.
2. Houston Texans (-7) at Jacksonville Jaguars
Both teams are coming off their respective bye weeks and each only has one win. However, the Texans have their only victory over Jacksonville, and this week, the Jaguars are deciding to given quarterback Jake Luton his first NFL start. It’s really, really hard to see Luton coming in and winning with the supporting cast he has. Additionally, Deshaun Watson remains a top-five quarterback in the NFL. This is a mismatch at the game’s most important position.

1. Green Bay Packers (-7) at San Francisco 49ers
Green Bay has lost two of its past three games, and gotten throttled in both. Now, the Packers head to the west coast on a short week to play the Niners. So why lay seven points? Look at San Francisco. The 49ers will be without — for a variety of reasons — Jimmy Garoppolo, Brandon Aiyuk, Nick Bosa, Solomon Thomas, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Trent Williams and others. This is a slam dunk.
