Odell Beckham Jr. Explains Why Giants Roster Decision Means ‘Everything’

After weeks of uncertainty, former Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. secured a spot on the New York Giants’ 53-man roster ahead of the 2026 season.

Throughout the preseason, there wasn’t any clarity whether Beckham would make the team, but the Giants elected to keep him aboard. New York signed him in free agency, but head coach John Harbaugh voiced that he didn’t have a guaranteed roster spot.

Days before the decision, Beckham expressed a strong desire to make the final roster for the 2026 campaign.

“It would mean everything to me if I made it,” Beckham said after the preseason finale Friday night via ESPN.

“Seeing my [4-year-old] son at the game yelling and just looking at me. He told one of his friends, ‘People always want to take a picture with my dad. He must be the best.’ It just made me laugh because I want to show him, lead the way. I want to be a good example for him. Be a good man. I love him so much.”

Beckham now has a shot to not only prove he earned the roster spot, but also showcase that he can be a factor in the Giants’ passing game. He has the chance to become a significant part of the offense behind his playmaking ability.
