Packers Coach Matt LaFleur wants Aaron Rodgers back ‘in the worst way’
The Green Bay Packers are currently in limbo. Superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers is unhappy with the franchise and reportedly wants a trade ahead of the 2021 NFL season.
Apparently, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur wants Rodgers to remain in Green Bay. Additionally, he isn’t ashamed of being a bit desperate in his attempt to get the reigning NFL MVP to remain. LaFleur recently said the following about the turmoil surrounding the Packers organization and its future Hall of Famer, via ESPN.
Want $250 to bet on NFL futures?
“I’ve got nothing new to update, and we still obviously feel the same way,” the Packers coach said Friday during the team’s rookie minicamp. “We want him back in the worst way. I know he knows that, and we’ll continue to work at it each and every day.”
The real question moving forward is whether Rodgers is truly serious about his request to be traded and if the Packers will eventually grant his request by looking for a trade suitor. The three-time NFL MVP has named a few teams he’d prefer to be traded to. They include the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers can be taken out of the running for Rodgers with the team drafting Trey Lance in the draft and seemingly ready to play another season with Jimmy Garoppolo under center. The Raiders seem committed to Derek Carr, but it’s possible a trade could still happen.
The Broncos seem to be Rodgers’ most likely destination. They desperately need an upgrade at quarterback even though they recently traded for Teddy Bridgewater to replace Drew Lock, who hasn’t lived up to expectations thus far. The ball is in the Packers’ court with no telling how this will all get resolved.
