Packers coach Matt LaFleur downplays any issues between him and Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers continued their forward trend in 2019 by earning their second straight win in Week 2 action. They upped their record to 2-0 by edging the Minnesota Vikings.

However, it wasn’t an entirely strong effort. The Packers struggled at point of the contest that saw star quarterback Aaron Rodgers vocalize his frustrations with the flow of the offense. By extension, he was also vocalizing his frustration with head coach Matt LaFleur. Following the game, LaFleur silence any talk of dysfunction as he voiced that it was simply just their competitive nature that was on display in trying to get things back on the right track, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

“That’s just two competitive guys, and I’m sure it’s not going to be the last one we have,” LaFleur said. “But you know, just competitors, heat of the moment, and it is what it is. I would much rather have that than anything else because you want guys that are extreme competitors, and that’s what he is.”

It was a heated exchange that saw both voice their opinions in the moment that they were able to move past by pushing the team to a much-needed win over their division rivals. It wasn’t a smooth effort, but the Packers were able to do just enough to come out on top against one of the league’s top defenses.

This hasn’t been the most fluid transition to LaFleur’s offense as Rodgers has previously voiced his concerns with the playbook. However, things have continued to progress in the right direction while the team is grabbing wins in the process that has them atop of the NFC North heading into Week 3 action.

Ultimately, only time will tell if things work out between both sides in Green Bay.
