Panthers sign former Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow

The Carolina Panthers added more offensive firepower after signing former Pro Bowl wide receiver Hunter Renfrow to a one-year deal.

Renfrow hasn’t played since the 2023 season with the Las Vegas Raiders, when he was cut in March 2024.

In five seasons, he tallied 269 receptions for 2,884 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. It includes his breakout 2021 campaign, where he posted 103 receptions for 1,038 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

His stellar campaign earned him a two-year, $32 million extension. However, he suffered a concussion that limited him to just 36 catches for 330 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 10 games in 2022.

His production continued to take a dip in 2023 as he posted 25 receptions for 255 receiving yards and zero touchdowns while playing in all 17 regular-season games.

Renfrow joins a revamped Panthers’ wide receiver room that features incoming rookie Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan, who was selected with the eighth overall pick in this year’s draft.

Carolina also has last year’s first-round selection, Xavier Legette, veterans Adam Thielen and Jalen Coker, and rookie sixth-round pick Jimmy Horn Jr.

The Panthers have made a concerted effort to surround second-year quarterback Bryce Young with more skilled-position talent. Despite a rough start to last season, Young showed some promise after he regained the starting job.

Over the last nine games, he recorded 1,880 passing yards with 13 touchdown passes to four interceptions and an 89.6 passer rating. It includes throwing seven touchdown passes to zero interceptions over the final three games.
