Panthers take superstar RB Christian McCaffrey off injured reserve list
The Carolina Panthers are continuing to trek through a tough stretch that saw them quickly fall south after a 3-0 start to the season.
The Panthers will soon receive a much-needed boost with star running back Christian McCaffrey taken off the injured reserve on Wednesday. Head coach Matt Rhule voiced that McCaffrey is moving into the next step of the process that will feature a return to practice.
“I would probably say he was pretty limited, not a ton of plays,” coach Matt Rhule said Wednesday via ESPN. “Just trying to begin the process of working him back. We’ll see how he looks tomorrow in terms of this weekend and his availability. See how he responds to this, but no setbacks.”

The Panthers are cautiously trekking the situation. He’s dealing with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss five straight games. The Panthers now possess a 21-day window to get him to return to the practice field, while he’s eligible to play on Sunday against the New England Patriots if he’s activated.
Since McCaffrey inked the four-year, $64 million extension, the last two seasons have been plagued by injuries. He hoped the 2021 season would see him finally get back on track after missing 13 games last year due to a high-ankle sprain.

When McCaffrey returns, he will provide a significant offensive boost as he’s the central driving force to the Panthers’ offense. If Carolina hopes to reach the playoffs, it will need their star running back to lead the offensive charge.
