Cam Newton, New England Patriots

Patriots Coach Bill Belichick continues to praise Cam Newton

The Patriots are a new-look franchise after two decades with superstar and future Hall of Famer Tom Brady under center. Cam Newton has become Brady’s successor in New England and so far he’s won over head coach Bill Belichick.

Although Newton and Belichick seemed like an unlikely pairing, the two have hit it off with the highly successful head coach singing his quarterback’s praises seemingly on a weekly basis, via Pro Football Talk.

“He’s here a lot, he’s in the building and he’s visible, he’s in sight and is connecting with people as much as any player. He’s in the building more than any player on the team, but he spends a lot of time talking and connecting and building relationships with those people. I mean, he has tremendous leadership, so it’s very impressive.”

The Patriots will head into Week 4 with a record of 2-1. The transitioning team has high hopes keeping a good thing going with the former NFL MVP under center. New England will face a tough test this week, however. The team will go head-to-head against arguably the best team in the league in Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs.

As expected, the Chiefs are favored to beat the Patriots and for good reason. New England has been anything but perfect during the first three weeks of the season. Meanwhile, Kansas City has been resilient as good as ever with Mahomes under center.

It will be a battle for former NFL MVPs with New England having the opportunity to make a statement with a win over Kansas City.
