Patriots sign former Packers star WR Romeo Doubs

After falling short in Super Bowl LX to the Seattle Seahawks, the upstart New England Patriots know they’ve got a bright future ahead with head coach Mike Vrabel calling the shots and star quarterback Drake Maye under center.

One of the team’s goals heading into the NFL offseason was upgrading the wide receiver position, and they have done just that with New England agreeing to a four-year deal with former Green Bay Packers wideout Romeo Doubs, according to ESPN.

The New England Patriots have agreed to sign former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs to a four-year deal worth up to $80 million, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler.

With the Patriots releasing veteran star Stefon Diggs, the team instantly upgrades with the addition of Doubs, who has his options in NFL free agency.

Doubs also was considering the Washington Commanders as a primary option, sources told Fowler, before deciding to join star quarterback Drake Maye and the defending AFC champion Patriots.

Doubs will help fill the shoes of Stefon Diggs, who will be released after spending one season with the Patriots.

In 16 games with the Packers last season, Doubs caught 55 passes for 724 receiving yards (career high) and six touchdowns. He was one of the team’s most consistent threats during the season, especially after Christian Watson wasn’t able to play due to injury.
