Rams acquire WR Brandin Cooks in trade with Patriots
The Los Angeles Rams are determined to contend for a Super Bowl title during the 2018Â NFL season. General manager Les Snead and company have been extremely aggressive in their efforts to upgrade their roster. On Tuesday, they made yet another bold move.
According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the New England Patriots sent their number one wide receiver to Los Angeles in a trade.
The New England Patriots have traded receiver Brandin Cooks to the Los Angeles Rams for the 23rd overall pick in this year’s draft.
Over the past few weeks, the Rams had been linked to superstar Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants. The consensus was that Los Angeles was the team most interested in a deal for Beckham. However, it appears they liked the deal with the Patriots for Cooks much better, via Reiss.
As part of the deal, which was officially announced by the Rams on Tuesday night, New England also sent a fourth-round pick (No. 136 overall) to Los Angeles and received a sixth-round pick (No. 198 overall) from the Rams.

This is an interesting move for both franchises. It shows the Patriots want to make something happen in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft. In addition, the Rams are going all in as they try to become a perennial Super Bowl title contender.
Los Angeles was already considered to be a talented team that vastly improved with the additions of Ndamukong Suh, Marcus Peters, and Aqib Talib. The addition of Cooks adds more firepower to the offensive side of the football for quarterback Jared Goff.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Rams’ latest move improves their odds for competing for next season’s Super Bowl.
