Rams ink star linebacker Bobby Wagner to five-year deal
The Los Angeles Rams may be coming off winning their first Super Bowl in more than two decades. However, that hasn’t taken their foot off the gas.
According to ESPN, the Rams inked star linebacker Bobby Wagner to a five-year, $50 million deal worth up to $65 million.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter the deal is for $50 million and can be worth up to $65 million if Wagner reaches incentives.
Wagner spent his first 10 NFL seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. There, he became recognized as one of the game’s best defensive talents. He was a key part of the Seahawks defense that saw him earn eight All-Pro selections and eight Pro Bowl nods. As well as that, he led the league in tackles twice.
The 31-year-old is the all-time franchise leader with 1,383 tackles. He is also coming off a career-high 170 total tackles in a single campaign. His addition is significant for the middle of the Rams’ front seven that is expected to still feature Aaron Donald after he works out his contract extension.

His presence will help emerging star linebacker Ernest Jones along his development as the two will lead the linebacking core. Wagner has a chance to be a key piece to the defense that is hoping to help anchor another push to the Super Bowl.
