
Rams’ Matthew Stafford among five NFL MVP finalists
The NFL has announced the finalists for the 2025 season MVP award, which will be Christian McCaffrey, Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Drake Maye and Trevor Lawrence.
McCaffrey became only the second player, joining Joe Burrow, to be a finalist for three AP NFL awards in the same year, as he’s up for consideration as well for the Offensive Player of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year honors.
McCaffrey put together a resurgent campaign as he had 1,202 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, along with 102 receptions for 924 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He played a huge part in pushing the 49ers to 12 wins and a playoff appearance.
Meanwhile, Allen had another strong season with 25 touchdown passes, had a 102.2 passer rating, and 14 rushing touchdowns while leading the Buffalo Bills to their seventh straight playoff appearance.
Lawrence finally broke through in 2025 as he put together arguably his best year, posting 4,007 passing yards, 29 touchdown passes to 12 interceptions. He guided the Jaguars to an AFC South title behind 13 wins.

Maye experienced a huge leap forward in his second NFL season as hke posted 4,394 passing yards, 31 touchdowns to eight interceptions, and led the league with a 113.5 passer rating and a 72 percent completion rate.
He was the driving factor that pushed the New England Patriots to an AFC East division title and the top seed in the AFC playoff picture.
Lastly, Stafford put forth arguably his best campaign that featured him leading the NFL with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdown passes while finishing second behind Maye with a 109.2 passer rating. His performance earned him his first All-Pro selection.
