Rams Land Myles Garrett in Shocking Blockbuster Trade With Browns
The Los Angeles Rams continued their all-in approach this offseason after making the blockbuster move to acquire reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns.
The Rams sent Pro Bowl edge rusher Jared Verse, along with their 2027 first-round selection, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick in exchange for Garrett.
Los Angeles reportedly engaged in trade discussions with the Browns for the last several weeks, but the conversation didn’t ramp up until recently, especially when Verse was included in the possible trade package.
Cleveland had long publicly held that it had no interest in moving Garrett, but that perception changed after the organization changed his contract to push back the option bonuses from the 15th day of the league year to seven days before the start of the regular season, making it easier to trade him.
This further opened the door for teams like the Rams to pursue the seven-time Pro Bowler before the 2026 campaign.
Although Los Angeles is parting ways with one of the league’s promising young pass rushers, the team is acquiring arguably the league’s best defensive player, who is coming off winning his second Defensive Player of the Year award after setting the single-season record with 23 sacks.
Garrett is joining a revamped Rams defense that already had the notable offseason trade acquisition of All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie. Los Angeles is embracing the all-in game plan with reigning league MVP Matthew Stafford, who inked a one-year extension worth up to $60 million for the 2027 season.

The 29-year-old further beefs up a vaunted defensive front seven that already features Pro Bowlers Byron Young and Kobie Turner, along with Braden Fiske, Poona Ford, and Josiah Stewart.
Meanwhile, Verse is set to have a homecoming return to where he could establish himself as a foundational piece for the Browns.
