Rams RB Todd Gurley’s knee issue was a problem leading back to Week 1

The Los Angeles Rams are set to be without the services of star running back Todd Gurley for the second straight week due to a knee injury.

This is an ailment that has bothered Gurley through the last couple of weeks. However, it was revealed that it is an injury that dates back to the season opener, according to Lindsay Thiry of ESPN.

Gurley’s knee also was an issue after a season-opening victory over the Oakland Raiders, when Gurley rushed for 108 yards and caught three passes for 39 yards and a touchdown.

“It was a similar situation,” McVay said.

Gurley said Thursday that he, “Felt like s—” after the Monday night game in Week 1.

“It was bad,” Gurley said. “I was contemplating on giving the Rams back their money and everything. It was bad. It was real bad.”

The fact that Gurley has been able to push through for almost the entire season has been quite remarkable. He has largely produced at an MVP-caliber level as one of the league’s most productive running backs.

Much of this has been done without external acknowledgment that he has been dealing with a nagging knee injury. That said, the fact the Rams are in the playoffs with a prime opportunity to secure a first-round bye gives him a chance to rest.

That said, this second straight week off gives him a chance to get his body right for the playoffs in hopes toward helping push Los Angeles to the Super Bowl.
