Rams superstar Aaron Donald likely ruled out for the season
As the Los Angeles Rams move through the tail end of the 2022 season, it likely won’t feature star defensive tackle Aaron Donald on the field again.
The three-time Defensive Player of the year is set to miss the Christmas day matchup against the Denver Broncos due to the high ankle sprain that he suffered in Week 12.
“Will he be fully cleared to be Aaron Donald?” McVay said via ESPN. “And if he is, then we talk to him and see. But if not, we’ll err on the side of being smarter. But obviously, he’s a guy that has certainly earned the right where you talk to him. But he’s not cleared yet and I don’t know that I see that changing in the next couple weeks.”
McVay’s comments all but seal that Donald will not play the rest of the regular season. It’s not a surprising development, given that the Rams have been eliminated from playoff contention.
Donald will finish the 2022 campaign with five sacks, 10 tackles for a loss, 11 quarterback hits, and a forced fumble. His play helped earn him a ninth Pro Bowl selection.

The injury bug has significantly plagued and derailed the Rams from defending their Super Bowl championship. Instead, the team has looked like a shell of a team that won its first Super Bowl in more than two decades.
Los Angeles has been without key contributors such as Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, Allen Robinson, and Joseph Noteboom for a sizable chunk of the year.
