Rams wideout Cooper Kupp talks about changing his jersey number

Through his first three seasons in the league, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp donned No. 18 with the franchise.

Kupp has decided to undergo a bit of a change heading into his third year by changing his number to 18. According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, the star wideout has made the change as it’s the one he wore in college.

Kupp wrote on Twitter that he has always wanted to wear No. 10, the number he wore in college, but it wasn’t available when he joined the Rams because fellow receiver Pharoh Cooper was wearing it. Now that No. 10 is available, Kupp is trading in No. 18 for No. 10.

For the fans that have purchased the No. 18 jersey, Kupp will have those jerseys repurposed into bespoke garment designed by his wife. That gives a special unique touch to the jerseys as a token of appreciation from the star wideout.

Kupp is coming off a breakout second year, where he set career highs across the board with 94 catches for 1,161 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. That includes six games with at least 100 receiving yards, which was topped by 220 receiving yards on seven catches and a touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 26-year-old will play a significant part in the offense once again in 2020 as the Rams look to bounce back after missing the playoffs last year. His performance this upcoming season could go a long way in earning him a lucrative extension from the franchise.
