Ravens Deliver Cautious Update on Lamar Jackson’s Ankle Injury

As the Baltimore Ravens prepare for their Week 5 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, it could be without star quarterback Lamar Jackson.

The two-time league MVP is working through a left ankle injury that forced him to miss the second half of Sunday’s 24-18 win over the Tennessee Titans. First-year head coach Jesse Minter voiced uncertainty around Jackson’s status for Sunday’s game.

“I don’t know the chances yet,” Minter said Monday via ESPN. “We’re still gathering a lot of the information and the imaging and things like that, just dealing with a little bit of an ankle and we’ll kind of see where that shakes out. [I have] full trust and confidence in him that when it’s ready to roll that we’ll roll and go from there.”

The Ravens are hopeful that Jackson can return to action against the Falcons, but if not, the team also has plenty of confidence in backup Tyler Huntley to lead the charge.

In Jackson’s absence, Huntley completed 8-of-9 passes for 63 yards and rushed for 16 yards on four attempts. He holds a 5-6 record as the Ravens’ fill-in starter, which should provide the team with a safety net if Jackson is unable to give it a go.

He has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons, missing four games last year due to a hamstring injury and a back contusion.

Jackson is off to a productive start this season, posting 967 passing yards with six touchdown passes to one interception and a 119.6 passer rating.
