Ravens shockingly back out of Maxx Crosby trade with Raiders

Ahead of NFL free agency, the Las Vegas Raiders came to terms on a blockbuster trade to send superstar defensive end Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens.

However, it appears that Crosby has failed his physical with the Ravens, prompting Baltimore to back out of the trade with the Raiders, according to Ryam McFadden of ESPN.

The Las Vegas Raiders announced Tuesday that the Ravens have backed out of a trade agreement that would’ve sent All-Pro defensive end Maxx Crosby to Baltimore in exchange for two first-round picks.

No further details were provided in the Raiders’ announcement, but league sources told ESPN the Ravens backed out due to medical concerns that arose during a physical. Trades are contingent on players passing the physical and aren’t official until the start of the new league year on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Ravens officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The question now is what happens with Crosby, for whom the Raiders were going to acquire two first-round draft picks, one in the 2026 NFL Draft and the second next year.

It was seen as a game-changing move for both storied NFL franchises: the Ravens in win-now mode and the Raiders beginning an extensive rebuild, with the team expected to bring in Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza from the University of Indiana with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens next and what the future holds for Crosby, who just lost some value on the trade market.
