Ravens’ Trey Hendrickson fully expected to play alongside Maxx Crosby

The NFL offseason has gotten pretty ugly for the Baltimore Ravens, with the team pulling out of a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby at the last second, creating a media frenzy along with a lot of questions about the signing of Trey Hendrickson that followed immediately after the blockbuster trade was nixed.

Hendrickson recently talked about the situation in Baltimore during an appearance on Terron Armstead’s The Set podcast.

“I was looking forward to rushing with him,” Hendrickson said of Crosby. “Like what an incredible opportunity that would have been to have a bookends like that terrorizing quarterbacks, getting running backs to the ground. That’s what got me excited.”

The Ravens maintain that the intention was to trade for Crosby and sign Hendrickson in NFL free agency, not either or. This has come with a lot of criticism, as many don’t believe the company line being given out of Baltimore.
However, Hendrickson is keeping the main thing the main thing, as he aims to win that elusive Super Bowl title with the Ravens.
“When I look back, maybe I’ll be more appreciative of how special that team was. But right now I’m on the hunt for one thing and that’s to win it all,” Hendrickson said. “I’m incredibly blessed to be in an opportunity representing organizations that have done it. I’m excited to be a part of something that there is potential. When you’re talking about No. 8 (Lamar Jackson) throwing the ball around, like, you know it’s a quarterback-driven league. Sean Payton talked about that when I was a rookie (in New Orleans). There might be 32 teams, but there’s about seven or eight that can win it all, and we got one of them.”
With so much controversy brewing about this blockbuster trade falling apart, it will be interesting to see which team comes out on top, with the Raiders seemingly building something special in Las Vegas while the Ravens are retooling in hopes of being a title contender once again in 2026.
