Redskins owner Dan Snyder claims Ron Rivera brings ‘culture change’ to Washington

The Washington Redskins didn’t take long to find Jay Gruden’s successor with the team agreeing to terms with former Carolina Panthers head coach, Ron Rivera.

With the team moving forward with Rivera at the helm, controversial owner Daniel Snyder explained the decision on why they moved so quickly and made the decision to bring in the former Panthers coach over other potential options. Snyder believes Rivera brings a change to the culture of the team that was desperately needed, via Michael Davis Smith of Pro Football Talk.

“What the Redskins have needed is a culture change, someone that can bring a winning culture to our organization, and it starts and ends with our head coach,” Snyder said.

Snyder is giving Rivera a bit more control than expected. The team owner seems to be fed up with the franchise struggling and is going with a different tactic with his new head coach, via Michael David Smith.

“We’re going to have one voice, and only one voice alone, and that’s the coach’s,” Snyder said.

With the Redskins seemingly all-in on their quarterback Dwayne Haskins as potentially their franchise player under center, it’ll be interesting to see if Rivera can turn things around and how long that transition may take. Fortunately for Rivera, the NFC East may be up for grabs with the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Giants struggling and going through similar changes during the offseason.

Only time will tell if Rivera is the right man for the job. One this is for sure, he’ll have his work cut out for him in Washington.
