Russell Wilson reacts to Broncos intent on releasing him
In the days ahead free agency, the Denver Broncos announced they will release former Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson.
The Broncos are expected to part ways with Wilson on March 13, the first day of the new league year. However, the organization reportedly told the veteran that he has permission to speak and meet with other teams before then.
“Tough times don’t last, but tough people do. God’s got me. I am excited for what’s next,” Wilson said in a statement released after the Broncos’ announcement via ESPN.

The Broncos struggled to find consistency with Wilson under center, holding an 11-19 record while falling well short of the playoffs over the last two seasons.
Wilson appeared to be making strides last year. However, the Broncos failed to make a strong playoff push toward the end of the regular season. All that resulted in Denver sitting him for the final two games.
Wilson is set to begin his massive five-year, 242.5 million contract extension, which he signed shortly after the Broncos acquired him from the Seattle Seahawks.

If Wilson is unable to find a landing spot before March 13, Denver, due to its decision to cut him, is set to take an $85 million dead cap on him.
However, Wilson still needs to find another landing spot. Teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Tennessee Titans could all express interest.
Time will tell what will unfold ahead for Wilson.
