Saints QB Jameis Winston out for the season after suffering torn ACL
On Sunday afternoon, the New Orleans Saints grabbed an impressive win over the defending champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, it came with a significant loss.
The Saints lost starting quarterback Jameis Winston to a torn ACL, according to ESPN.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston tore the ACL in his left knee and sustained MCL damage on Sunday, coach Sean Payton confirmed.

Winston suffered the injury after receiving a horse-collar tackle by Buccaneers linebacker Devin White in the second quarterback. Trevor Siemian performed well enough to lift New Orleans over Tampa Bay as he completed 16-of-29 passes for 159 yards with a touchdown.
Despite his respectable outing, Payton voiced that he was unsure who he would name as the starter aside from stating that he was comfortable with the team’s quarterback room.
“We’re satisfied with the quarterback room,” Payton said.
The Saints will have an open competition between Siemian, Taysom Hill, and rookie Ian Book. It will likely see the starting job become a battle between Siemian and Hill.
New Orleans will move forward with their in-house dilemma, which will likely see them lean more heavily on their running game led by Alvin Kamara and recently acquired Mark Ingram.

The Saints have plenty of comfort with their backfield duo as it helped push them forward against the Buccaneers. The two helped anchor the ground game that racked up 152 yards against Tampa Bay’s stout defense.
As the Week 9 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons inches closer, the Saints will have a definitive plan under center.
