Seahawks CB Richard Sherman undergoes Achilles surgery

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman suffered a devastating ruptured Achilles this past Thursday against the division rival Arizona Cardinals.

The injury will cost Sherman the remainder of the season, but he’s expected to be back in time for the 2018 campaign.

According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, he’s already undergone surgery on the Achilles injury and is on the mend.

When Seattle takes on the Atlanta Falcons on Monday, it will be the first time in exactly 2,500 days that the franchise has not had Sherman in the mix–he hasn’t missed a single game since entered the NFL in 2011.

His absence in on the Seahawks defense cannot be overstated.

With Sherman on the field, opponents have made a habit of avoiding him if at all possible, leaving the rest of the Legion of Boom defense to defend the remaining 75 percent of the field.

Neither Jeremy Lane, nor anyone behind him, have the capacity to fully fill the void left by Sherman. Expect Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and the Falcons to potentially capitalize in a big way.
