Steelers coach Mike Tomlin claims Antonio Brown hasn’t asked to be traded

The Pittsburgh Steelers will miss the NFL playoffs. As well as that, the fallout has seemingly begun with rumors swirling about the storied franchise.

One rumor surfaced this week after it was known the team wouldn’t be playoff bound. Reports say that superstar wide receiver Antonio Brown has asked to be traded. Brown was held out of the final game of the season due to an altercation he got into with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger prompting the trade request which has no been refuted by head coach Mike Tomlin, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Wednesday that Antonio Brown was benched Sunday against Cincinnati after failing to show up for work Saturday, and that the wide receiver hasn’t asked for a trade.

Apparently, communication with Brown broke down ahead of the regular-season finale. Tomlin made that clear. Now, it seems there’s no telling what the future holds for the superstar wideout moving forward, via Fowler.

“Bottom line is we are playing a significant game and he didn’t do a good job of communicating or being available in the hours leading up to that performance,” Tomlin said.

The drama in Pittsburgh has been at an all-time high this season. From Roethlisberger unhappy about the team drafting a quarterback to Le’Veon Bell choosing to sit out the entire 2018 campaign. As a result Bell will likely leave in free agency. As well as that, there’s Brown not seeing eye-to-eye with Tomlin or Roethlisberger.

Needless to say, it seems as though there will be some considerable changes this offseason with Brown and Bell potentially headed elsewhere.
