Steelers expect Aaron Rodgers’ decision before NFL Draft
Four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers is weighing his options once again when it comes to whether he wants to continue his playing career.
Although the consensus was that Rodgers would call it a career after one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rodgers has left the door open to return to the field for another season.
However, the future Hall of Famer continues to keep the Steelers in limbo, but not for much longer, with team president Art Rooney II expecting a decision from the veteran quarterback before the 2026 NFL Draft, via ESPN.
“I would say by the draft, I expect an answer,” Rooney said at the league’s annual meeting.
However, Rodgers has said he hasn’t been given a deadline for an answer on his immediate future, as he said earlier this month on The Pat McAfee Show.
“There’s been no deadline that’s been put in front of me,” Rodgers told Pat McAfee in an interview on March 4. “There’s no contract offer or anything, so there’s nothing that I’m having to debate between. I’m a free agent. … I’m enjoying my time with my wife and enjoying this part of the offseason.”
Patience may be wearing thin in Pittsburgh, with new head coach Mike McCarthy and company wanting to know who will be under center for the 2026 NFL season.

The presence of McCarthy potentially gives the Steelers a better chance of Rodgers returning, given their history together with the Green Bay Packers, but it remains to be seen whether he’s played his last snap in the NFL.
