Steelers owner Art Rooney II set to meet with Antonio Brown next week
In the last several weeks, things have progressively gotten on rocky on both sides between All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It has created a sense that Brown could be on his way out of the organization via trade this offseason. However, another wrinkle has been thrown into the mix with team president Art Rooney II set to speak with the star wideout at some point next week, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ team president is scheduled to meet with Brown in person, a source confirmed. That meeting is expected to take place next week, a source told ESPN.
This will allow both sides to see where things stand at this point in time. There is a growing notion that things have reached an irreparable spot with the team reportedly being open to moving Brown.
It has seen several teams being mentioned as possible landing spots for the Pro Bowler. This could very well change on both sides after this meeting as it will be a chance to clear the air and potentially mend the fences in what has become an extremely public matter.
Rooney has been quite public about his feelings towards the situation, as he has previously voiced last month that the team will explore all the options. The upcoming meeting falls in line with that plan as it will dictate where things will head next.
Ultimately, things are set to take another turn in either direction in the coming days with this face-to-face sitdown.
